Just watched Manny help the Sox lose against the Yankees. First he made a worthless out during a four run rally in the ninth. Then he misplayed a catchable ball in the outfield (he extended his arm way too early, and the ball glanced off of his glove as he clearly slowed from having his glove up too early).

Then he threw the ball in on the run, and the ball curved quite a bit, (could he be a reverse of Babe Ruth, maybe he should pitch?).

The ball eluded THREE Bosox players as it hugged the wall all the way past the Bosox bench. sheesh. The runner advanced to third and would eventually score the winning run.

This is gonna sound crazy, but I have a feeling that the Wild Card may go to a team with a winning percentage under .600.

If the tribe can get to .500 by the end of July, the sky's the limit!

Another odd baserunning foible by Shea Hillenbrand in the ninth hurt the Sox. Shea was on first, and on a 3-2 pitch and two out, he only made it to second on a ball that was hit on a high hop to Derek Jeter, who floated the ball well past the first base bag, the frist basemen caught the ball, but why was Hillenbrand only on second?

It seems to me that the third baseman must have ended up in short left going for the ball, Hillenbrand should have been breaking on the pitch and probably had a great chance to get to third on the throw to first.

Instead, he was thrown out at home after the next batter hit a grounder to first that was deflected to Sorriano, who knocked it down and threw home to get Hillenbrand. If Hillenbrand is already on third, he scores and the inning continues.
